The third largest cryptocurrency in the world, XRP, might get integrated with Skype after the XRP community made Skype notice their ideas. The developers in the XRP community have already integrated XRP with Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, Twitter, Reddit, and other notable platforms.

David Olliver shared his idea about integrating XRP on Skype on March 20, 2019, which grabbed the attention of Petr, the community Manager of Skype, who replied:

“Hi. Thanks for sharing this Idea! Cryptocurrency micropayments sounds really cool right 🙂 Like any other leading technology company Microsoft is already testing blockchain.

Although I don’t have any information about cryptocurrency adoption for Skype or any other MS product, please keep continue supporting this Idea. I will share it with our teams 🙂

Note: I’ve edited the title of this Idea little bit so it fits to cryptocurrencies generally ;)”

Although it hasn’t been finalized yet, this step by Skype puts XRP adoption on a new level. Moreover, Skype replied to a user Dave Jones on Twitter regarding the enthusiasm shown by the XRP community on its integration.

XRP is a crypto well-suited for micro-payments since it has an average transaction settling time of less than 3 seconds. This was one of the reasons why XRP was first integrated with Twitter, Reddit and other platforms by Wietse Wind, a prominent developer in the XRP community. Moreover, the recent update of TipBot has made it possible for users to discover nearby TipBot users.

This initiative by Wind has caused other developers like SchalaubiDev to build apps that seamlessly help send XRP on other platforms. SchalaubiDev made it possible for users to send XRP via Microsoft Outlook and Gmail.

XRP is being pushed into adoption not only by the community but also by Ripple, via their partnerships with Financial Institutions across the world. In addition, XRP Ledger is also being integrated into online games by developers for its consensus mechanism that helps transactions settle faster than other famous cryptos like Bitcoin or Etherum.
